How Xplenty works

Xplenty is an integrations platform that gives you tools to extract data out of various cloud apps and move data between various data stores. The interface gives you a visual representation of the integrations you’ve plugged into the system and how they’re connected. The operations for data transformations are written in the interface and Xplently handles the heavy lifting. When it comes to customer data from your website or mobile app, your options are to pull data from Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or Segment.

Get more out of Xplenty with Segment

If you’re already using Segment and want to try out Xplenty as an ETL platform, the process will be simple. Just enable the Xplenty integration on any supported Segment sources.

Typically, the sources people start with are data from a website or mobile app. The main advantage to sending Segment data directly to Xplenty rather than pull data out of Google Analytics or Mixpanel is the formatting of such data through Segment. The Segment data spec is designed to be easily understandable and immediately ready for analysis and transformations alike.  The data from GA or Mixpanel will be in the format that those tools require to power reports and metrics, rather than the true raw format of what happened on the site or app. Keeping to the Segment data spec will enable you to process and analyze your datasets more intuitively and immediately as opposed to having to transform your data from other syntaxes first.
