Trigger notifications when users don't complete activation steps with Braze

Email can give users a helpful nudge to complete steps in your onboarding or activation flow. However, with an average email open rate below 30 percent, the majority of emails you send will never be opened.

With Braze and Segment, you can take a multi-channel approach to user activation and crush industry standards. By combining user activity across Segment and Braze, you can automatically send a push notification to users who haven’t opened your initial email or activated within a given time.

How this works:
  1. Connect Braze to Segment to send user events like Email Delivered and Email Opened and Push Notification Sent to Braze
  2. Build a segment in Braze (or use Segment Personas to build an audience) where a user received an activation email but did not open it OR complete the activation step
  3. Set a waiting period and schedule a triggered push notification to send when a user does not activate within that time
Steps to get started:
  1. Set up event tracking with Segment (Mobile tracking spec here)
  2. Connect Segment and Braze
  3. Optional: Use Segment Personas to build custom audiences to send to Braze
Tools you need:
Connect Segment + Braze

Collect data once with Segment and send it any tool you use. No more tedious integrations. No more engineering resources wasted.

How Braze works with Segment

Segment makes it easier to install Braze across all platforms: Javascript on web, iOS or Android SDKs, and server-to-server. The user information recorded with the identify method and any actions being recorded with the track method are all sent through to Braze with the correct format and data labels that it expects. No additional code or configuration is required for those methods.
