How Clearbit Enrichment works

Clearbit Enrichment is an API endpoint where you send an email address (required) and other known user attributes and it returns information about the person and company they work for (if that information is available based on the attributes you provide). This “enriched” information can be used by your team for analysis, to customize your site content to the person viewing it, or to personalize communications with a person based on their industry, company, role, etc. Clearbit offers some client-side Javascript libraries that make collecting attributes and pinging the API easier, but it’ll still require setup work and development time. If you want to send enriched personal and company information to other tools for customizing your site, emails, communication, or for analysis in a data warehouse, you’ll need to map that data event-by-event to each tool where you want to send it.

Segment will ping the Enrichment API anytime an email address is present in an API call from any Segment data source. The personal and company data that gets returned is sent back through Segment to all your integrations in the format each one expects. That includes email, site testing and customization, and analytics tools. Finally, all this data plus can also be stored in your Segment data warehouse for later analysis.
