Apptimize

How Apptimize works

You’ll need to bundle the Apptimize SDK into your iOS and Android apps to get things working. Most basic features are ready to go at this point. There’s a visual interface in the Apptimize dashboard where you can set up and run A/B tests or define custom events. However, if you need to record events in code or save any custom user attributes, that requires custom coding. A developer will have to learn the Apptimize API methods and data schema, then grab the custom data and send it through from your apps.

Get more out of Apptimize with Segment

When you use Segment to install Apptimize, the core features work exactly the same as if you did a native installation but you get extra perks in addition. The most obvious advantage is that you can tap into your existing Segment user traits and events. That data will be sent through to Apptimize automatically, without additional code or mapping required. An additional perk is that Segment will also record and send downstream those events that are triggered when your users are part of an A/B test. An Experiment Viewed event is recorded to Segment and also sent out to any other integrations or warehouses you’re using. That means you can include experiment information in analytics reports, messaging, or warehouse-powered BI tools, something you wouldn’t be able to without working through Segment.
