How Customer.io works

On its website, Customer.io lists three ways to send data into the system and get started sending email— Segment is one of them. The other two ways are copy and pasting your Customer.io javascript snippet containing tracking code into the footer of your website, or using client libraries.

If you use the Customer.io snippet, you’ll also need to manually identify logged in users and any important information about them. Only then will you be able to email everyone who logs in to the website. Customer.io also has a RESTful API for receiving your customer data, but doesn’t have libraries for all languages, including Java, iOS, Android, and OS X.
