How Yandex Metrica works
Using Yandex.Metrica begins with creating and installing a counter, which is a custom code snippet. When a counter is generated, Yandex.Metrica also creates a data store associated with it. When users interact with the webpages of a site where a counter is installed, the counter code runs and transmits data to the Yandex.Metrica service about the page itself and about events that occurred when a user interacted with it.
The counter code should be embedded in the source code for all of your site pages. The code must be placed as close to the top of the page as possible. Yandex.Metrica recommends on their site that to install the counter, you contact the employee who is responsible for website support.
Get more out of Yandex Metrica with Segment
Segment’s integration with Yandex.Metrica can be used to automatically send your data to Yandex.Metrica without the need to install a new site counter. By enabling Yandex.Metrica in your settings, Segment will automatically load the counter onto your site wherever you have Segment installed. This means you don’t need to make any new additions to your website code, and you can begin sending data into Yandex.Metrica without waiting for development cycles.
