Woopra

How Woopra works

Installing Woopra is similar to installing Segment for the first time. You’ll need to map out your events and user traits to be collected, decide which libraries and SDKs you need to collect that data, and install them into your products.

Woopra requires you to install a code snippet to collect data within your applications. They offer plug-ins with Content Management Systems such as Wordpress, as well as SDKs for many common platforms, including JavaScript.

For JavaScript, in order to activate tracking by Woopra’s servers you must insert a code snippet into each element on each page you wish to be tracked. Tracking occurs when a visitor’s web browser executes the Woopra JavaScript and pings the Woopra servers. Custom visitor data or custom events can be added, but require the implementation of additional code.

If Woopra does not offer an SDK in the language that your application is written in, you may have to default to coding against their HTTP API. Whatever your method, adding Woopra to your application typically requires some domain knowledge of your code, and may require app development time.

Get more out of Woopra with Segment

If you are already using Segment, getting started with Woopra becomes very simple and only requires you to enter a few settings. This is because your existing Segment implementation can collect the same information that Woopra needs.

When you enable Woopra in your Segment settings, Segment’s content delivery network is updated within 5-10 minutes. Once that happens, Segment will know to asynchronously load JavaScript from Woopra onto your page whenever it is loaded. This means there is no need to install any Woopra code in your web application. Woopra will start automatically tracking data within your existing Segment implementation.

Additionally, Segment’s integration can collect and transform data for Woopra directly from your mobile and server-side Segment implementations. This removes the need for you to include any Woopra SDKs in your iOS, Android, or server-based applications.

Lastly, when you use Segment to send data to Woopra your customer data will also be the same data that is received by your other tools, like email automation, chat, push, ad conversions, etc. There are also many cases where you’ll get access to additional data in Woopra that wouldn’t be there without custom coding if you had used Woopra directly.
