How FullStory works

FullStory works by capturing all of the page views, mouse movements, and clicks that visitors make on your site. Its JavaScript snippet must be installed on all of the pages of your site where you want to capture customer engagement. The data collected automatically is great, and powers most FullStory features, but it doesn’t tell you who your visitors are or other important information like their plan details, signup date, etc. With the Segment integration for FullStory, you can associate specific visitor sessions with known users or customers and pass over specific details such as user ID, plan, signup date, lifetime value, and more.

Get more out of FullStory with Segment

Installing FullStory with Segment makes it simple to get up and running without custom code or added implementation time. All you need to do is sign up for FullStory, paste your credentials into the Segment integrations page and the Segment snippet will load FullStory in the background to start recording user sessions immediately. The standard web analytics data you’d expect will all be collected automatically: traffic sources, device, location, page info, clicks, and more. The user ID and traits being recorded in Segment will also appear in FullStory automatically, with email and display name mapped to the special traits available in FullStory. This means no custom coding is necessary to get FullStory up and running with identified user session recordings, saving you time and development resources.
