How Sherlock works
Sherlock works by analyzing user activity (events) in your product. You will need to manually specify which events to collect and then add the corresponding code to fire event data payloads each time a user initiates a meaningful event in your product.
Once you have your product data extracted, transformed, and loaded into Sherlock, you can go in the Sherlock interface and give each event a ‘score’ or rating based on how important each event is to your product’s overall user engagement.
Sherlock takes these scores and calculates a ranking of your entire user base based on their engagement with your product. You can also create a custom engagement algorithm for your product by scoring each one of your events based on its engagement weight.
Get more out of Sherlock with Segment
Sherlock is built directly on top of Segment, making it frictionless and easy to get customer data into Sherlock. Segment is the only way to get data into Sherlock and is required to start using Sherlock.
As a Segment user, getting started with Sherlock is very simple and only requires you to enable the integration within our application. This is because your existing Segment implementation is already in place to collect the information that Sherlock needs.
