How TUNE works
TUNE works by matching device information with your marketing campaigns so it can attribute installs and other conversions correctly. When you install TUNE directly it’s usually done by installing the SDK into your app and configuring it to collect the data it needs. Some of the data is collected automatically, like the device info and first open after install. Other conversions, like the TUNE ecommerce events, must be tagged in your app code and sent to TUNE via custom code you’ll need to write. Getting attribution data out of TUNE in realtime requires custom development either in the app code or by tapping into webhook events and routing them to other tools.
Get more out of TUNE with Segment
When you use Segment to power your TUNE implementation you can bundle the SDK as you would if you were installing it directly or let Segment send data to the tool from its servers instead. Regardless of how you install, Segment will send device info, ecommerce events, and custom events through to TUNE in the format it expects without any additional coding required from you, automatically. All you need is a standard Segment implementation. One of the more valuable features of using TUNE via Segment is the ability to send Install postback events back through Segment without any custom code. When you enable the feature, every time TUNE attributes an install, the data is sent back through to Segment which forwards it out to your enabled integrations and data warehouse so you can act on that information in your other tools, or build it into reporting.
