Blueshift

How Blueshift works

Blueshift runs on customer data collected from your site, apps, or server. Routine installations start with Blueshift’s Javascript library loaded onto your site to collect web activity, cookie people for re-targeting, and easily collect email addresses to send emails. This installation doesn’t require much custom coding. However, to get the most out of Blueshift you’ll want to send additional customer attributes to the platform, as well as custom events when people take certain actions on your site. Those data sets require custom code hooks on your site and some development to populate variables from your database.

Get more out of Blueshift with Segment

When you enable Blueshift in Segment all the customer data flowing through Segment is forwarded to the tool in realtime. You’ll have access to customer traits, events, and page views right away and you can skip straight to communicating with customers rather than spending time installing Blueshift in order to even get data into the tool. Another reason to use Blueshift via Segment rather than directly is the ability to stream email events that happen in Blueshift back through to Segment, which get fanned out to your other integrations and data warehouse. You only need to enable the setting inside of Segment and events like Email Delivered, Opened, Clicked will be sent from Blueshift through Segment in realtime as they happen.
