How Whalr works
Whalr focuses on 3 areas and uses them to help sales teams close more deals: identity, contextual, and behavioral intelligence. The first, identity, is kicked off when you send a lead’s email address to Whalr. That means you need to send an API call to Whalr everywhere people can input their email address. The Whalr contextual information requires you to make a call to its API whenever someone does something important in your site or app. The last area, behavioral intelligence, requires multiple events so Whalr can work its magic and alert you when people on your site look like they’re going to convert soon.
You’ll need to individually install the event tracking code for all three focus areas throughout your site or app— everywhere that user events should trigger Whalr’s understanding of user behavior. This requires an understanding of Whalr’s API as well as duplicative event tracking code installation, since Whalr event tracking is unique to the app and doesn’t serve any other integrations you might also install.

The customer data Whalr needs to work well is all covered by a standard Segment implementation. The email address of leads is collected with an identify call and all important actions on your site or in your app are recorded by the Segment track method. When you enable Whalr in Segment, that data starts flowing to Whalr straight from the Segment server. No additional Javascript libraries, mobile SDKs, or custom coding is necessary in order to make Whalr work if you turn it on through Segment.
