Send emails that move users through your onboarding funnel with Autopilot

Email is essential for activating users. You can use email to nudge users toward activation through surfacing relevant tutorials, use cases, benefits of features, and much more.

Using Segment and a marketing automation tool like Autopilot, you can send activation emails based on where users are at in your onboarding or activation flow. This entire process is dynamic and automated—when future users fall into defined audiences based on onboarding stage or product usage, they’ll automatically be added to your Autopilot Journey.

How this works:
  1. Connect Segment and to sync events like Account Created, Invite Sent, and Trial Started to Autopilot
  2. Define your key onboarding and activation stages
  3. Trigger email campaigns via Autopilot based on Segment events (You can also use Segment Personas to build custom audiences and push them to Autopilot)
Steps to get started:
  1. Set up event tracking with Segment (here’s a quick start guide for B2B SaaS)
  2. Get data flowing from Segment to Autopilot
  3. Optional: Use Segment Personas to build and send custom audiences to send to Autopilot
Tools you need:

Collect data once with Segment and send it any tool you use. No more tedious integrations. No more engineering resources wasted.

How works with Autopilot

When you use Segment to load Autopilot on your site, your existing Segment events and user data automatically get passed along in the format Autopilot expects, and without any extra work from you. Many people use Segment to create more powerful Autopilot journeys. For example, you can use incoming Segment events as triggers in your journeys, or send events as Autopilot actions. Any actions you send from Autopilot back into Segment get propagated out to all your active Segment integrations and data warehouse.
