Segment Transparency Report

Segment releases Transparency Reports once a year. These reports provide information regarding the  volume and nature of governmental requests for Segment customers’ data.

Segment is a Customer Data Platform (CDP). Businesses use Segment to manage the collection and use  of data gathered through their digital properties (websites, apps, etc). Each Segment customer has their  own customized instance with unique data. For more information about how different businesses can  use Segment, see https://segment.com/customers/. Segment’s policy is to notify its customers when  we receive legal process seeking information related to their Segment use, except where we are legally  prohibited from doing so by court order or applicable law, or if there are exceptional circumstances, like  imminent risk of death or bodily injury. Additionally, we encourage parties requesting data to contact  Segment customers directly and request information from our customers, rather than Segment.

Segment may disclose information to government or law enforcement officials or private parties (a)  for the compliance and protection purposes; (b) as required by law, lawful requests or legal process,  such as to respond to subpoenas or requests from government authorities; (c) where permitted by  law in connection with any legal investigation; and (d) to prosecute or defend legal claims. For more  information about how Segment processes information, please see our privacy policy at https://segment.com/legal/privacy/ and our terms of service at https://segment.com/legal/terms/ [ZG3]
